From The Flash Sept. 5:
There is a great deal of research surrounding not only the ideal structure for a school day but also how the structure itself may need to change as children grow and develop to best support their learning.
We have begun our work with Michael Rettig by identifying several dates this year where we will start school late at our middle/senior school and have early dismissal at our junior school. This not only creates balance in the lives of our students based on their age and stage but also gives our staff a dedicated time for professional development and meetings. A chart of JS Early Dismissal & MS/SS Late Start dates for this school year can be found here. After care programs will still be available for students who require that option at our JS, and students at the MS and SS who need to be dropped off at regular times will also be accommodated. We look forward to sharing our learning journey with the York community.
