Welcome to Gladiator Athletics!

The Gladiator Athletics program is an integral part of the educational experience at our school. A healthy body/mind balance is one of The York School’s core values across curricular and co-curricular life.

At the Junior School, we introduce our young athletes to team sports with an emphasis on developing good sportsmanship and learning how to represent our school as Gladiators. In JK - Grade 3, students can participate in Sport Development Clinics which focus on developing skills in specific sports such as soccer, basketball and volleyball. These are offered throughout the year, either during lunch or on the weekend.

For students in Grades 3 - 5, there is a competitive athletics program where our U10 and U11 sports teams compete against other schools within the Conference of Independent Schools Athletic Association(CISAA) Athletic Association. We offer teams in the following sports: cross country running, soccer, basketball, volleyball and track and field.

Competitive sports are a great place to learn the importance of hard work, resiliency and a growth mindset. By joining a team, our student-athletes are encouraged to be respectful of their coaches and officials, supportive of their teammates and their opponents, and are expected to attend all practices and games.

With a clear vision and mission, the Gladiator Athletics program will continue to thrive along with our student-athletes. Follow us closely on social media, on the sidelines, or in the sports pages and see what we have to offer.
Go Gladiators!
