Service Learning

Through meaningful service and community outreach partnerships, we strive to develop an increased sense of social responsibility and a global view of society. We respond to issues emerging locally and globally with meaningful service learning opportunities and awareness campaigns.

Providing such experiences in the Middle School years builds a foundation of skills and a service mindset which prepares students for their required provincial volunteer work in Grades 9 and 10 as well as the IB CAS program in Grades 11 and 12.

Some examples of Service Learning opportunities at the Middle School are:
  • Library Program Volunteering at TYS
  • Annual Daily Bread Food Bank Drive
  • Annual New Circles Clothing Drive
  • Themed Fundraisers (ex: Rainbow Railroad Bake Sale, Save a Child’s Heart Cookie Drive, Karma Coffee morning for Youth Mental Health services etc.)
  • Annual Terry Fox Walk/Run
  • Holiday card creation for health care workers and seniors
  • Campfire Circle Campaign
  • Community clean-ups for Earth Day
  • And many more!
