York School News

Three cheers for York’s talented human and robot competitors!

On February 11, our Middle and Senior School robotics teams demonstrated their creativity, teamwork, leadership, passion and problem solving skills during the Lunar New Year VEX Robotics Competition Over Under in Toronto. Two Middle School teams of four members each, and two Senior School teams of two and four members, participated in the competition.
The teams spent several months designing, building and testing a robot for the competition using VEX Robotics kits, their newly developed coding and engineering skills, and their own cool ideas. During an ‘over under competition’, two teams work together to score points by having their robot move a set of triangular balls into a goal. At the same time, they are trying to prevent their opponent’s robot from scoring goals.

It was an exciting competition! York’s teams – and their robot – showcased excellent skills and strategy. One of our Senior School teams made it to the finals, and our three other teams had winning match records that landed them in the middle third of 75 teams.

Congratulations to all our team members and our coach Mr. Cooper!
