Announcement from our Board of Directors and Head of School
The York School’s Board of Directors and Struan Robertson, Head of School, are pleased to announce that Dr. Patricia McMahon has been elected Chair of the Board of Directors.
Trish is a lawyer, historian and professor at Osgoode Hall Law School. She embarked on her teaching career in 2022 after more than 15 years in private practice at two leading Bay Street law firms. She currently researches and teaches in the areas of civil process, legal history, and equitable remedies and procedure. Trish is also the Co-Academic Director of the Winkler Institute for Dispute Resolution and Director of the Oral History Program at the Osgoode Society for Canadian Legal History.
Since joining our community, Trish, the parent of two of our Senior School students, has played an active role in supporting, promoting and advancing York’s mission, vision and values. She has served as Class Parent, Co-Chair of the Middle School York Parents’ Association(YPA), and Co-President of the YPA. Most recently, she was Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors and a member of the Risk Management and Governance Committees.
We would like to congratulate Trish on her new role. As The York School approaches its 60th anniversary in 2025, and we continue to implement our ambitious strategic plan, Trish’s governance experience, professional background, and commitment to the school will enable her to provide inspiring leadership.
Trish is replacing The York School’s outgoing Chair Krista Hill, who served for 5 years in this position, spending 7 years in total as a member of the school’s Board of Directors. We are grateful to Krista for her steady leadership, particularly in the school’s successful navigation of the challenges brought about by the global pandemic.
