Accessibility at The York School
The York School is committed to the principles of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and aims to ensure that independence, dignity, integration and equality of opportunity are embedded in all aspects of the school culture. Our Accessible Customer Service Policy provides a framework through which the School can achieve excellent service for people with disabilities. For more information, please review our Multi-Year Accessibility Plan and our Integrated Accessibility Standards Policy.

Highlighted here are some of the ongoing initiatives at York:

Website: We have partnered with UserWay to ensure our website is as accessible as possible. This is an ongoing process and we are committed to continuously addressing areas identified as barriers to accessibility.

Facilities: Building staff at both campuses of The York School are continuously working on improving accessibility in the school by addressing identified barriers. Accessibility also plays a central role in the new master planning exercise taking place across the two campuses. This exercise will further identify and propose added solutions to any more uncovered barriers.

Learning: The York School Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Team has an Accessibility sub-Committee which meets regularly to look at barriers and suggest learning opportunities to faculty, staff and students for the school curriculum and everyday life. Our team of Learning Strategists work to support alternative format requests as well.
